The writing process follows many of the same steps as designing a level. This map served both for the layout of the city and to clarify the written description for the short story part of my Thesis.

Writing Samples

As a level designer I create the worlds that players live in, but my true passion is adding to this world through characters and story. I began playing D&D before I understood what THAC0 even meant and I loved the depth of the world that came out of the adventures. In college I began running a game myself, creating the world and characters from scratch. I would also write out short stories of either the games themselves or off some tangent I thought of while playing. At the Guildhall I realized that the Industry has a very real need for writers who are trained in formal writing as well as interactive technology.

I have also chosen a few samples that stem from a game of Vampire the Masquerade played with other Guildhall students. The first is a training adventure write-up of the events that occurred. The second is a profile "screenshot" written to show the type of character I wished to create. The third is our first and (unfortunately) our last adventure, the game ended due to the time constraints of Guildhall school work.

I wrote both of these samples for my Creative Writing class, several years ago. Please check my Thesis page for more recent samples and dialogue samples.
